Captain Marvel Gets a New Trailer

The first trailer for the upcoming Captain Marvel movie was quick to establish the title character’s presence in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. With the release of the film’s second trailer, we get a glimpse of Carol Danvers’ quest to answer the questions regarding her past while at the same time trying to bring an end to the Kree and Skrull war.

The second Captain Marvel trailer sheds a bit more light on the upcoming film from Marvel Studios. In it, we see a conversation between Brie Larson’s Captain Marvel and Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury. “So Skrulls are the bad guys? And you’re a Kree; a race of noble warriors?” asks Fury. “Heroes,” Danvers clarifies with a smile. “Noble warrior heroes.” This exchange pretty much sums up what we’re in for, specifically lots of Kree vs. Skrull action. And honestly, what more could we want?

Directed by Anna Boden and Ryan Fleck, Captain Marvel sidesteps the traditional origin-story template, and when it begins, Carol already has her powers. She’s left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law’s enigmatic commander. But before long, Carol finds herself back on Earth with new questions about her past. And she’s got a formidable enemy in the form of the Skrulls — the notorious Marvel baddies made all the more dangerous by their shape-shifting abilities. Ben Mendelsohn plays their leader Talos, who spearheads a Skrull invasion of Earth.

In addition to Brie Larson and Samuel L. Jackson, the film also stars Djimon Hounsou, Lee Pace, Lashana Lynch, Gemma Chan, Rune Temte, Algenis Perez Soto, Mckenna Grace, and Clark Gregg. It is scheduled to hit theaters on March 8, 2019.
